Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba has claimed on social media that he would rather "stop playing" football than be a 'ram' as a Derby County supporter suggested he was.
The 28-year-old now plays for Lens in the French Ligue 1 after leaving the Reds during the summer transfer window. Samba is enjoying a strong start to the season and has been ever-present under Franck Haise, who has been linked with the vacant Brighton and Hove Albion head coach job alongside Steve Cooper, as his side currently sit fourth in the top-flight table as one of only three unbeaten teams alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
Since leaving the City Ground, the goalkeeper's unorthodox shot-stopping, which endeared him to the Forest faithful, has led to further viral fame. During last Friday's 1-0 win over Troyes, Samba nonchalantly caught an attempted shot from inside his own half by France World Cup-winning central defender Adil Rami with one hand just inside the six-yard box.

But it is clear that an affinity to the Reds remains after Samba took to Twitter in the aftermath of the Reds falling to a 3-2 defeat against Fulham on Friday night to author a tweet that has since been deleted. The post caused quite a stir among Forest supporters, with Lisa Pitt replying that "it's the fans you hurt with tweets like that, not the people you have the issue with. We loved you and didn't want you to go."
Kieran M also replied with a similar sentiment, saying: "Clearly things went sour with you and the club Brice, but the fans still adored you; wrong time to tweet this." Samba has since 'liked' both of these tweets.
Derby fans also jumped on the deleted message, with Liam tweeting an apparent screenshot of said tweet - which contained a shrug emoji - with the caption, "deleting is cheating Mr," before tagging the player. Khai Smith, also a Rams fan, replied by saying, "Samba Brice is a ram," to which the man himself replied that he'd "rather stop playing" than that be the case.
