Brian Robinson Jr. ‘prayed’ for the Commanders to draft QB Jayden Daniels

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. always maintains a positive outlook, even during the bleakest of times. This offseason, Robinson hasn’t been able to contain his excitement for the team’s new offense, led by offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

“I feel like he’s going to do a great job just utilizing his personnel,” Robinson said of Kingsbury. “I feel like he will have the balance that we need to be a great team, whether that’s throwing the ball or running the ball.”

Robinson is also thrilled to have Anthony Lynn, a former Chargers head coach and NFL running back, as his running backs coach.

“A-Lynn a dawg, man,” Robinson said. “I actually got to meet him before the draft process, and he was a great, down-to-earth guy. He’s real. I appreciate his coaching style. He’s tough-nosed, and he’s all about the details.”

Robinson said he and his new teammate, Austin Ekeler, have bonded since Day 1 and have already established a great relationship.

But what does Robinson think about his new quarterback (Jayden Daniels)?

“LSU guy, that’s my guy, though, man,” Robinson said of Daniels. “I think he’s tough. I watched him, if not every week, last season. I prayed on that pick. I am super, super excited to have him in here. I love his ability. I love his dual-threat ability, quick on his feet, strong, strong arm, smart and poised.”

Wide receiver Jahan Dotson said earlier this offseason that Daniels was the quarterback he wanted all along and it sounds like Robinson also shared that hope. Now, the trio has the opportunity to transform Washington’s offense in 2024 and beyond.

Here’s Robinson’s full interview with JP Finlay of NBC 4 Washington and 106.7 The Fan.
