Ireland legend Brian O'Driscoll has called for a change in the laws that would stop scrum-halves being disrupted by players within the ruck, citing an example from Wales' heavy defeat to Scotland.
The former Ireland centre highlighted an incident from Wales' 35-7 defeat at Murrayfield on Saturday which saw Scottish prop Zander Fagerson take advantage of the law and win a turnover for his side by knocking Tomos Williams' arm while he was getting the ball away from a ruck.
Ironically, at the next ruck, Williams did the same to opposite number Ben White to disrupt the Scottish scrum-half's pass.
Posting the clip on his Instagram story, O'Driscoll then took to Instagram to voice his concerns: "This ruling has to be changed. Does nothing for the game. He's actually offside too as he's part of the ruck but are we trying to play or spoil..."
As long as a player is on his feet as part of the ruck then they are legal to play the scrum-half's arm to disrupt the pass. As such, players can stretch through the ruck to make life difficult for the nine - something that the Irish legend thinks isn't good for the game.
O'Driscoll also points out that Fagerson is actually offside when he strips the ball from Williams, having been off his feet at the time he played the scrum-half.
