Brian McDermott has opened up on his role as Celtic's secret scout - as he looks to help Hibs score success in the transfer market.
The Easter Road club officially announced the former Reading boss as their new Director of Football yesterday after a long search. He will now team up with Lee Johnson with one of his key roles in Leith overseeing recruitment. He's no stranger to scouting in Scotland while he took on an important role at Arsenal scanning for talent across the globe.
Just after Covid times he even worked for Celtic doing a lot of video scouting revealing that he had eyes on many of the players starring for Ange Postecoglou's relentless Treble chasers. His experiences mean he has a strong understanding of the market and will tap into that knowledge in his new position.

He said: “I’ve scouted in this country many, many times. I’ve scouted at Hibs, I’ve watched Hibs-Hearts games.
“I was at Arsenal for a long time, looking at players all over the world. I was at Celtic and I did a lot of video scouting after Covid. I did it quietly — and all the players you see playing for them now, I watched.
“There’s some good players that they didn’t get, that they didn’t manage to quite get over the line, as well.
“So I know this market really well, I know the country, and I know how it all works in this country as far as scouting is concerned.
“Recruitment is so important. I’ve recruited well as a manager, and I’ve recruited not so well. And when you don’t recruit so well, you don’t do so well.
“So it’s an important stage of the process we’re in and we’re just trying to add to the good players we already have here.”
