Brian Kerr believes there is much to be positive about from Liverpool's point of view as the Reds smashed Rangers 7-1 at Ibrox in the Champions League.
Rangers actually started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead midway through the first half. But after that disjointed opening period, Liverpool moved through the gears and looked much more like their formidable selves.
Liverpool badly needed to find some form ahead of this weekend's crunch clash with league leaders Manchester City, and tonight's win should go some way to repairing the side's damaged confidence. Despite Rangers' lack of quality on the evening, Kerr still believes there were some positives that Liverpool could take from the game.

"I think tonight is a night where morale could be recovered," said Kerr in his punditry role on Virgin Media, "But they'll also be realistic and know that Rangers weren't a true test of where Liverpool are.
"Good news is that when Robertson came on he looked lively. Salah recovered a bit of form and confidence tonight. Firmino, who has been in good form, he also played very well. Nunez will be the better of eventually scoring.
"So there were some good things about the game. Young Harvey Elliott's performance was decent too... He (Jurgen Klopp) still has a bit to do to decide on the shape and the tactics and the starting team for the match at the weekend with Manchester City.
"They'll need to pull out one of their great performances I think to beat Manchester City this week."
Richard Dunne agreed wholeheartedly with his colleague, and believes Liverpool need look for the positives after a wretched start to the season.
"Even the fans need something to cling onto. Now they can look and go 'we're back' and start to believe that," said Dunne.
"Liverpool needed a result like that tonight regardless of the Rangers performance... That meant a lot to Liverpool.
"They kept pushing and looked like they wanted more goals, I think it just lifted a little cloud that was over Liverpool."
