New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has been known to have a fiery personality. He’s since mellowed out over the years thanks to former New England Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest.
Daboll began his Patriots coaching career in 2000, as a defensive assistant. He then worked his way up to wide receivers coach, and held that position from 2002-2006. After several other stops in the NFL, he came back to New England in 2013, taking the role of tight ends coach.
Now, he is the head coach of the New York Giants. Hired on January 28, he held his introductory press conference on Monday. He told a funny story of how McGinest got him to be more easy-going.
#Giants HC Brian Daboll said repeatedly today he’s mellowed over his career. Tried to be like some of the harder HCs he’s worked for. One time screamed at a #Patriots scout-team player.@WillieMcGinest:“Hey, little guy, relax.”
Daboll: “God bless, Willie Mac. I love him.”

Daboll will now have a chance to leave his mark, with the New York Giants in need of a fresh voice at head coach.
