With contract talks seemingly at a stalemate between outside linebacker Brian Burns and the Carolina Panthers, we have not heard from the former party in over a week—that is, until now . . . kinda.
On Friday afternoon, the two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher posted the following story to his Instagram account:
Buy Panthers TicketsNow, yes, Burns has embraced the Spider-Man persona for quite some time now—even to the point where he’s known as “Spider-Burns” to many. But what is he spinning here?
Well, that’s up for interpretation—as is his status for Sunday’s season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. While Burns has been a full participant in practice for the last three days, the team is unsure if he’ll suit up in Week 1.
Head coach Frank Reich simply said the following after today’s session:
“And then the only update other update is, really, that there’s no further updates with the Brian Burns situation. So, we talked a lot about it this week and, really, I have nothing else to say at this point.”
So, if a deal is not reached by kickoff on Sunday, we may have to wait to see if Burns ends up swooping in to potentially save the day.
