Two pretty notable pass rushers were moved before Tuesday’s trade deadline hit—and neither were Brian Burns.
As expected, Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Brian Burns was not dealt prior to the 4 p.m. ET cutoff time on Tuesday. But, about 24 hours later, he did comment on a few that were—Chase Young and Montez Sweat.
“Shocked that both of them left,” he said on Wednesday. “I kinda assumed one would just, I guess, lookin’ on the business side of things. But I was shocked that both of them got traded. I think they’re in good positions, though. So, happy for them.”
The Washington Commanders began their Halloween handouts with Sweat, shipping him off to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick (theirs, not Carolina’s). They then sent Chase Young to the San Francisco 49ers, reeling in a compensatory third-round pick for the former second overall selection.
As for Burns, who stayed put amidst some trade rumors, he’ll hopefully find himself in a good position right where he’s at.
