Thomas Frank has admitted it would be 'pathetic' to complain about Brentford rightly having a goal disallowed against Newcastle United after his side went on to lose the game 5-1.
Brentford appeared to land the first blow at St James' Park on Saturday when Bryan Mbeumo had the ball in the net in the 11th minute. John Brooks gave the goal, but VAR quickly intervened and the referee went over to his pitchside monitor to take a second look, which is always a tell-tale sign.
Brooks duly ruled that Ivan Toney interfered with play from an offside position in the build-up to the goal. Although Toney did not touch the ball, the striker's dummy took Fabian Schar out of the game and allowed Shandon Baptiste's pass to reach Mbeumo inside the area.

It felt like a big moment in the game, even at that early stage, and Newcastle soon raced into a 2-0 lead following two quickfire goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Jacob Murphy in the space of just seven minutes. Although Toney pulled one back from the spot in the 54th minute, Bruno restored the hosts' two-goal advantage before Miguel Almiron added a fourth late on and Ethan Pinnock put through his own net at the death.
After the game, Frank revealed that he had to use 'a lot of strength to try to stay calm because, if not, I will explode.' However, that internal fury was not in reference to Mbeumo's goal being chalked off.
"I'm a big believer that if you lose 5-1, never ever complain about a disallowed goal," the Brentford boss told reporters. "I think that is pathetic if you do that as a player or a coach.
"That said, I understand where you're coming from because the first goal in a game means a lot. It literally popped in my head when we scored: 13 times we went in front in the Premier League and we won 11 of them and drew the other two. But, looking back on it, I agree with the decision. It was offside."
