Thomas Frank has downplayed suggestions Brentford may snap-up Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen before their Premier League game with Manchester United.
Brentford have earned plaudits since winning promotion to the top-flight and have been heavily linked with the former Tottenham favourite.
Released from his Inter Milan contract this season, the Dane is available on a free transfer.
Eriksen, 29, has yet to play since collapsing while on Euro 2020 duty last summer but, despite the 109-cap player being diagnosed with a heart condition, he is set to return to competition.
Amid suggestions that will be in the Premier League, the Bees have reportedly offered him a six-month deal.
However, while addressing the challenge that awaits for his Brentford team against United on Wednesday night, charismatic manager Frank played down those eye-catching connections with his compatriot.
He did, though, outline his admiration for Eriksen.
During his pre-match press conference, Frank said: "I really hope he comes back to top-level football again and that is what he wants. He says he wants to play for Denmark at the World Cup this year.
"It is a big aim and I hope he succeeds. I can't see why he shouldn't. He was the biggest star before Euro 2020 and if he gets up to speed he will be again. We want the best for him and his family.
"I worked with Christian when I was coach of the Denmark U17 team and I've seen him grow from a young boy in to one of the world's best players.
"He needs to find a club, but besides that I'm not talking about it too much. I don't think that I should discuss him, maybe I should discuss [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo?"

Frank added: "I've been very impressed with how we've handled some of the best teams in the world.
"It gives us a lot of confidence for the future but, of course we're always aiming for the best. We'd like to do it for more minutes. Instead of 60 we want to do it for 90-plus."
