Brentford confirm amount they would sell David Raya for amid Manchester United transfer links

Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes the club's valuation of David Raya is absolutely fair.

The Bees' shot-stopper has been continuously linked a move away from the West London club, with Manchester United mooted as a possible destination. Raya's Brentford contract runs until 2024, but he has rejected offers of a new deal at Brentford and looks set to leave.

Mark Flekken is reportedly set to sign for the Bees, paving the way for a Raya exit. United could well be in for a goalkeeper themselves, given that David de Gea's current contract expires this summer and Dean Henderson's future at Old Trafford is uncertain. There have been links to Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel, but United now know what it will take to prise Raya away.

“We know the rumours about Raya not being here next season, but right now he is here,” said the Brentford boss. "You all know the price – £40m - and absolutely it’s realistic.

“I think it is too much, in general, the money that is paid in football. But in the current market and at his level, he has been at least a top-four keeper in the Premier League this season. If you look at those players, in such a crucial position, then I am not in doubt.”
