Brentford boss Thomas Frank ‘privileged and happy’ after celebrating five-year anniversary with Burnley win

Thomas Frank celebrated Brentford’s 3-0 win over Burnley and his five-year anniversary as manager with a “good glass of red wine and a bit of tapas.”

Brentford’s commanding victory over Burnley was their first in any competition since August, and lifted them up to 14th in the Premier League.

Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo and Saman Ghoddos scored their goals, with Burnley defending poorly throughout and well beaten.

“It was very good performance, a completely well-deserved win”, said Frank. “The first half was maybe our best performance this season. We should have probably been 3-0 up – that’s the only negative.”

Frank, who has been Bretford manager since October 2018, thanked the club for keeping faith in him as he brought up five years in charge.

“I’m just privileged and happy to have been here almost seven years and five years as head coach. It’s definitely better to celebrate with a win. I will be having a good glass of red and a bit of tapas, I think.”

Frank was shown a yellow card in the second half for very intense remonstrations with fourth official Darren England, after Burnley played on when Mbeumo went down injured.

Mbeumo was back up and scored Brentford’s second goal just two minutes later, after which Frank apologised to England.

“When I have a go at the fourth official, I am always disappointed in myself”, he admitted.

Brentford visit Chelsea next weekend and face Arsenal and Liverpool in the coming weeks.
