Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson says he is "surprised" that Wolves winger Daniel Podence was not sent off for an alleged spitting incident, but added that he is "completely fine with it".
Johnson appeared to suggest the Portuguese international spit in his direction during the 1-1 draw at the City Ground on Saturday. VAR immediately checked for a possible dismissal, but declared the footage inconclusive and no action was taken.
The Football Association are now looking into the incident to decide if retrospective action should be taken. The incident came shortly after Podence had cancelled out Johnson’s opener in the game.

"I'm not going to allegate him, but I felt like some sort of spit came towards my face," Johnson told Sky Sports. "The referees have had a look at it, so it's done now. I'm completely fine with it."
When asked if he was surprised that no red card was issued, the 21-year-old said: "A little bit. At the end of the day it's the VAR team having a look at that, not me. I've seen it close up and they're having a lot of different looks at it. Maybe they didn't see something that I did see, so at the end of the day they didn't give a red card and I just had to get on with the rest of the game."
Johnson also spoke to BBC Sport after the game, telling the broadcaster that he didn't have a clear recollection of the incident. "I think it's just high emotions, especially in the game," he said.
"I can't remember it too clearly. I remember what happened and I don't want to talk too much on it to be honest. I saw a similar sort of motion come from him but at the end of the day they had a look at it and it didn't happen so it is what it is."
Wolves head coach Julen Lopetegui said after the game that he had looked back at footage of the alleged incident. “I didn’t talk with Daniel about this. I haven’t seen this image,” he said.
“I’ve seen it back and I’ve spoken to Brennan,” Steve Cooper said of the incident. “I’m not going to add any fuel to the fire because obviously there’s pictures and videos and things like that, so you have to trust the authorities now to deal with it.
