Wales manager Rob Page has confirmed that Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson will not join up with the national team for their Euros qualifier against Latvia.
The 21-year-old missed the weekend’s game vs Croatia after struggling with a groin injury in the build-up to the international break. The problem had made him a doubt for the Premier League clash against Newcastle, but the Forest man played the full 90 minutes of that game.
However, the injury meant that Johnson did not join up with the Wales squad as planned as they prepared for the clash in Croatia last week. Page has spoken of his frustration over the situation , with Johnson being a key player for both club and country this season.

The Wales boss has again addressed the situation, confirming that the Forest man won’t be available for tonight’s (Tuesday 7.45pm kick off) clash against Latvia at the Cardiff City Stadium. “We’ve dealt with Brennan, that’s been said, I’ve made my frustrations and my points, I’ve got that across,” he said.
“Wales fans want to see Brennan play for Wales. There’s no chance of him coming back for Tuesday.”
Johnson has impressed in his step up to the Premier League with Forest this season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in his 27 league appearances so far. Forest will now be sweating on his fitness ahead of what could be a crucial game in the fight against relegation at the weekend.
Steve Cooper ’s men return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Wolves at the City Ground. Julen Lopetegui’s side are one of the nine teams, including Forest, who are fighting to stay in the league at the end of the season.
Ahead of the game, Forest sit in 16th place in the table, two points above the relegation zone. Wolves are in 13th position, but just one point ahead of the Reds.
