No player in the Champions League last season covered long distances at a higher speed than new Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson, according to a study.
A study from SportingPedia highlights the average speed of players that covered the longest distances in the UEFA Champions League last season. The research looks into the 16 teams that reached the direct eliminations phase of the Champions League last term, with the aim of finding out the average speed at which modern footballers move around the field.
According to the study, Aaronson - who was part of the Red Bull Salzburg side who were defeated 8-2 on aggregate in the round of 16 by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich - covered 103.5km at a speed of 8.69km/h in the Champions League last season. Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic ranked second, covering 89.3km at 8.44km/h.

The highest English-based player to feature on the list was Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, who covered 120.3km at a speed of 8.22km/h. The average speed of all midfielders was 7.78km/h.
Aaronson - who signed from RB Salzburg this summer for a fee in the region of £25 million - impressed in his debut against Wolves.
