It looks like Leeds United can cross one potential next manager candidate off their wanted list. Brendan Rodgers was always an outside bet at best for Leeds this summer, but the chances of the former Liverpool and Leicester City boss taking over at Elland Road looking increasingly slim after it was confirmed by the Daily Mail that the Irishman had opened talks with his former club Celtic about a return.
Despite talk of Rodgers being in a two-horse race for the Leeds job, things have never been that clear cut. Rodgers is not convinced moving to the Championship is the right move for his career no matter what the club, and while Leeds have a significant interest in him which he is aware of , the club are aware the ex-Foxes boss is not convinced about being in charge of a Championship side.
A return to the SPL is still not guaranteed either and at present Celtic are exploring their options, but Rodgers has held initial talks with the Scottish giants and is open to a return north of the border. That desire is key, with a seeming lack of desire to manage in the English second tier making the chances of his arrival at Elland Road all the slimmer.

Leeds are continuing their search for a new manager and until he commits to Celtic Rodgers may still be linked, but that hope of the club's and of many fans that he will take over, is unlikely to become a reality unless his position changes and the club know that as they pursue other targets.
Former Norwich City director of football Stuart Webber is being heavily linked with taking over from Victor Orta in the same role, which is only strengthening talk of his former Canaries manager Daniel Farke coming in as the new head coach.
