A local café in Portobello has been named as one of the UK’s best pubs, cafes and restaurants with a view by The Guardian.
Locals know this seaside hotspot as The Beach House Café, and on Saturday it was named one of the 10 best places to eat or drink in the UK with a view.
"The Beach House is a friendly café with beachside chairs right on Portobello’s promenade. Sitting outside, you have your back to beautiful Georgian architecture and, in front, the two-mile seafront – rippling, golden sands and clean, cold waves (good for swimming) under moody Scottish skies," the Guardian review read.

The Beach House sits at the end of Bath Street right where Portobello meets the sea. From the café, guests can enjoy delicious food and drink while gazing out at Firth of Forth estuary where the river meets the North Sea. In the distance, the Fife shoreline and a few hills and peaks should be in view.
On a clear day, Beach House guests can sit outside and enjoy freshly baked bread or homemade gelatos, ice creams or sorbets. The restaurant also serves Edinburgh's ‘Seaside’ Gin and tonic as well as craft ales from breweries around Scotland.
The Guardian review highly praised the food as well as the views, and especially recommended the “porty smash” (mushrooms, thyme and avocado on sourdough) for lunch.
According to the Beach House website, all of the bread onsite is fresh baked daily, and the restaurant places a strong emphasis on natural, organic products with no additives, no preservatives and no palm oil. Seasonal vegetables are sourced for soups; eggs and dairy are also locally sourced and organic.
"Our aim is to provide simple, delicious, where possible organic, locally sourced food. We now have a small garden and are growing many of the herbs, flowers, spinach and salads that we use every day," the Beach House website says.
Dairy free, gluten free and vegan options are available.
