Breanna Stewart’s devastated reaction to missed FT summed up Liberty loss

The New York Liberty got so, so close to winning Game 1 of the 2024 WNBA Finals.

After superstar Liberty forward Breanna Stewart got fouled with under a second to go in regulation with her team down by a point, it sure looked like Stewie was headed to the line to ice the game with two free throws.

Stewart made the first free throw to tie up the game but missed the second attempt, which gave the Minnesota Lynx new life as the game went to overtime. Minnesota won in extra time, 95-93, going up in the series by a game.

While you can’t blame a loss on a missed bucket, Stewart hitting that free throw more than likely wins the game for the Liberty in regulation.

Her reaction after missing the second free throw was really sad to watch, as she looked devastated to see such a typically automatic basket slip through her grasp.

Stewart’s missed free throw summed up New York’s Game 1 loss in a way, a game of “almosts” for the Liberty.
