West Ham have confirmed the signing of defender Nayef Aguerd from Rennes on a five-year deal for a reported £30million.
David Moyes was desperate to sign a left-footed centre-back this summer and has now got his wish, bringing Morocco international Aguerd to the London Stadium as his first signing of the window. The 26-year-old, who will wear the No27 shirt, is known for his physicality, reading of the game and aerial presence and will likely push Issa Diop further down the pecking order and become Kurt Zouma's long-term partner in defence.
The Hammers have beaten off several other suitors to secure Aguerd’s signing, with Eddie Howe and Newcastle reported to have had a keen interest in him earlier in the window. Moyes will now be focused on strengthening his side further with a centre-forward and an extra left-back both of high importance to the Scotsman.
