The experience centre-back has committed his further to the Blues for a further 12 months, meaning he will be 39 when his deal expires in 2024. "I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues," the defender said.

The new deal has been in the pipeline for some time after Silva's consistent five-star performances at the heart of Chelsea's defence. Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have now secured experience alongside the youthful crop of stars in SW6 and have expressed their delight at the extensions.
"He's a world-class talent, as he's proven over many years for club and country, and his experience, quality and leadership skills are vital to our vision going forward," the chairman and co-controlling owner said.
"We're thrilled he has extended his contract with us and we look forward to more success with him ahead!"
Silva joined the club under Frank Lampard in 2020 after spells with AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. He was pivotal to the club's second Champions League triumph in 2021 against Manchester City before adding the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup to his honourable list of achievements.
Despite the summer arrivals of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana, the 38-year-old has played 24 games for the Blues this season and has often been the difference between victory and defeat.
