Dean McCullough and Vicky Hawkesworth have been confirmed as the presenters who will take over from Scott Mills when he exits Radio 1 at the end of August.
The announcement was made on Scott's show this afternoon, less than a week on from it being announced that he and co-host Chris Stark would be moving onto pastures new in a major BBC radio shake-up.
Scott and Chris revealed Dean - who already has a show on Radio 1 - first to listeners on Tuesday, before Vicky joined the call and it was confirmed a new presenting duo will be formed later this year.
Northern Irish DJ and presenter Dean currently hosts the 10:30am-1pm slot Friday-Sunday on Radio 1, while Bolton-born Vicky hosts regular shows on BBC Radio Manchester and Gaydio.
The new northern-based duo will be presenting live from Salford according to the official Radio 1 Twitter account.
"We’re excited to announce some changes to the Radio 1 schedule," a statement from the broadcaster reads.
"Dean McCullough and Vicky Hawkesworth will be taking over the Monday – Thursday, 1pm - 3:30pm slot, broadcasting live from Salford!"
Taking over from Dean at the weekend, Katie Thistleton will host her own weekend show, Friday and Saturday, 10:30am - 1pm, also broadcasting live from Salford.
The broadcaster also announced another new presenter, writing: "Nat O’Leary join’s the station to host a brand new show, Radio 1 00s, on Sundays 11am - 1pm!"
Dean joked he was in "official mourning" and wearing black in the wake of the news Scott is leaving Radio 1 as she chatted on his predecessor's show this afternoon.
Vicky took to her Twitter account shortly after the announcement and told her 1,222 followers: "Absolutely over the moon speechless, so I better find some word by September!"
The news comes just hours after it was announced that Chris will be joining Global as Creative Executive Producer and presenter on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp when he and Scott leave Radio 1 next month.
"I’ve known Roman a long time and often joked over a beer it’d be great to work together on something big one day - and now here we are!" Chris said in a statement this morning.
"I cannot wait to get started on Capital Breakfast and in my new Creative Executive Producer role. Let’s make some moments!
Speaking on Monday's show - where he stressed he hadn't been fired - Scott revealed he and Chris were none the wiser about who would be following in their footsteps at the end of the summer.

"I think they’re deciding right now. So we’re all going to find out tomorrow together on Radio One at two o’clock," Scott told listeners when discussing potential successors. "So there’s going to be a big reveal."
Chris added: "That’s going to be weird isn’t it. So the people or person that will be replacing us will come in?"
"Yes," Scott replied. "Let’s do it like when they do the new contestants on Strictly, because we honestly don’t know, so let’s find out together tomorrow at 2pm."
Scott will make to move to Radio 2 in September, after first joining the BBC in 1998 and enjoying 24-years hosting a variety of shows on Radio 1.
The Eurovision presenter will be taking over from Steve Wright on Radio 2, who bids farewell to his popular weekday show after 23 years on the station but retains his weekend slots.
"It was inevitable I was going to get a call up from over the road [Radio 2]," Scott quipped to listeners on Monday after poking fun at his age.
The BBC will also be saying goodbye to Chris Stark who will be leaving Radio 1 to focus on presenting That Peter Crouch Podcast and his podcast with Chef Tom Kerridge The Pirate Ship.
Addressing their pending departure on Monday's show, Scott confessed he had 'mixed emotions' about leaving the Beeb's flagship youth station after over two decades on-air.
"I feel very weird because I think when you sign up to radio one you always know at some point you’re going to leave," Scott confessed to listeners.
"But I would have dealt on this, if you told me back then that we would have done everything that we have got to do. I am super proud. I don’t want to go too deep right now because there’ll be another time for that.
"But I am super proud of us. I’m super proud of you. So it’s a whole mix of emotions."
Speaking to Chris, he added: "I am so proud of you, and I’m so proud of what we have done together. Let’s not get emotional now, that’s for another time. But I’m feeling weird.
"I’m also feeling a little bit in denial that this is actually happening, but apparently it is."
The cheeky presenter began his show on Monday by addressing the "mad weekend" and alluding to the "big news", before jokingly mentioning how everyone was talking about Mo Salah signing a new contract with Liverpool FC.
After playing a couple of tunes, Scott played a snippet of a voice note from a fan gushing about how much they're going to miss him on the show.
"We feel very loved right now because all the voice notes are saying that," he told listeners.
"We can’t deal with people telling us how great we are and how much they’re going to miss us," he jokingly added.
