Dancing on Ice announces Drag Race winner The Vivienne as latest star

Ru Paul's Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne is the latest celeb confirmed for Dancing on Ice.

Revealing the news on social media, The Vivienne said: “I'm beyond excited to announce that I will be competing in Dancing on Ice in 2023! This is honestly a dream come true and I can't wait to start training on the ice.

"To be the first drag artist to take part in one of the big UK reality competition shows is truly an honour. I think it's a big step forward for queer representation on TV.”

The Vivienne is the sixth celebrity to be announced, joining the previously announced actress and DJ Patsy Palmer, football legend Josh Fashanu, Love Island Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, olympic gymnast Nile Wilson and Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher.

Eleven celebrities will prepare to embark on the ultimate challenge as they take to the ice each week, skating live in a bid to impress both the panel and viewers at home.

The Vivienne won the first season of Ru Paul's Drag Race UK, and also starred in the celebrity version of Hunted.

Yesterday, it was announced that Corrie's Mollie was to join the show, which is expected to start next year and will see Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield return as hosts.

Speaking on Lorraine yesterday, Mollie shared: "I'm really excited. I've not really felt nervous yet, but being here today, now I'm feeling it. Back in the day, I've skated at Christmas markets but before the try out for Dancing on Ice, I went on the ice."

"I'll be getting all the tips I can," Mollie revealed as she confirmed she'd be chatting with her fellow Corrie stars who have taken to the ice.

Jane Danson and Sally Dynevor are just two of a number of Corrie stars who have giving the show a go.

Love Island fans were also left stunned when Love Island winner and fan favourite Ekin-Su was confirmed to be one of the stars from this series.

"I’ve got some amazing news to tell you, I’m going to be doing this year’s Dancing on Ice! I’m so excited, I can’t wait to get myself on the ice and skate. Stay tuned and see you on the ice!" she shared on Good Morning Britain as she announced her latest venture.

Patsy Palmer was the first star confirmed to be taking to the ice, with the DJ and actress excited to "challenge" herself and get out of her comfort zone. She explained how turning 50 inspired her to sign up.

She said on ITV's This Morning : "I wanted to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. I thought ‘I’ll just go for it’ and it seems like a lot of fun," before adding: "My pact that I made with myself when I was 50 was I have to do things to challenge myself for the next couple of years.

"This is for all the 50 year-olds out there that think they can’t challenge themselves!"
