Another man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody today to be quizzed by detectives.

The road was reportedly closed off for hours after the crash, with the cars remaining on the scene until around 5am this morning. A cordon was put in place at the busy junction as investigations were carried out.

One onlooker this morning described the road as being 'like a racecourse'. They said: "They drive so fast round here, it's dangerous".
