Boy, 12, killed in triple shooting at convenience store that leaves two others dead

A man has shot a 12-year-old boy to death in a busy gas station before turning the gun on himself.

This came after the guman shot a man sitting in a van outside, critically injuring him.

Police and emergency services rushed to the scene at the 7-Eleven gas station in Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the 12-year-old boy and others have reportedly been shot dead.

Broward Sheriff's Office were called to the scene just after 11pm on Thursday.

The boy and the shooter both died at the scene, investigators said.

Investigators said witnesses told them the man fired shots at a man in a vehicle that was parked outside the gas station. He then went inside the station and shot the boy, and then himself, a police release said.

The names of the suspected shooter and the victims have not been released. An investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Maximo Limas, a young man who works at a restaurant in the 7Eleven store where the shooting took place, spoke to WSVN about what he saw.

Pointing to his own neck, he said: "Before he walked into the store he shot somebody in the neck, right here.

"And then he walked in and started shooting. He killed an 11-year-old (sic) boy and then he just killed himself."

Investigators said there does not appear to be an continued threat to the public.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area as Stirling Road, where the shooting happened remains closed.
