Matt Doherty appears set to join Atletico Madrid from Tottenham on a loan deal until the end of the season as the two clubs thrash out the final details of the move, football.london understands. The right wing-back has been in and out of the team all season but he will now have the chance to play regularly for the Spanish side.
Doherty will be the second right wing-back to exit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on deadline day as Djed Spence is set to clinch a loan move to Rennes with Pedro Porro joining from Sporting CP. football.london understands that Doherty's loan move to Atleti is a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy at this stage.
Spence turned down the opportunity to head to Atletico as he wanted the more regular football on offer at Rennes but Doherty appears to taking on the challenge in Madrid for the next five months.

The Republic of Ireland international's move to the Spanish capital will see him reunite with Tottenham teammate Sergio Reguilon at Atletico Madrid. The left-back joined Diego Simeone's men in the summer but has only made a handful of appearances so far after struggling with injury following his switch.
Doherty will depart Tottenham after making 16 appearances for the Lilywhites this season, with his one goal coming in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at the start of January. His departure will see Porro and Emerson Royal fight it out for the right wing-back spot in Conte's team.
