A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man and the serious injury of a woman in Johnstone yesterday.
Police were called to MacDowall Street at 1.50am yesterday and when they arrived they found a 40-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 59-year-old woman was taken from the scene to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, with serious injuries.
Medical staff have described her condition as “stable”.

The force launched a probe into the circumstances of the incident and have now confirmed they have arrested a suspect.
A forensic tent was erected outside a property, as officers continued to investigate the circumstances.
Police Scotland spokesperson told Renfrewshire Live “A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Johnstone and the serious injury of a woman.
“The incident happened around 1.50am on Wednesday, 1 June in McDowall Street, Johnstone.
“A man, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene and a 59-year-old woman was taken to QEUH with serious injuries.”
