The lucky ticketholder became the 17th person in Ireland to win the EuroMillions jackpot when they matched all the numbers in Friday's draw.

The winning numbers were 13, 18, 38, 42, 45 with lucky stars 7 and 11.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “There are sure to be celebrations happening in County Clare today!

"One of our EuroMillions players in the Banner County has woken up as Ireland’s 17th EuroMillions jackpot winner after winning the truly life-changing amount of €30.9 million in Friday night’s draw.

"Today, we are appealing to our players in Clare to check their tickets carefully and if they are the lucky winner, we are advising them to remain calm and to sign the back of their ticket."

A nine-hour weather alert for seven counties across Ireland has been issued with "intense" rain forecast.

The Status Yellow rainfall warning will be in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

It will be in effect from 2am until 11am on Sunday, with Met Eireann warning that "some intense falls of rain are likely with the risk of spot flooding, especially on high ground".

As for the rest of the country, it is set to be a wet and windy weekend in most areas.

Saturday will be blustery for the rest of the day with sunny spells developing and fairly widespread showers.

A forecaster said: "Sunday will start wet in many parts, with the risk of spot flooding in the south and southeast where the rain may be thundery.

"The rain will ease off through the afternoon as brighter spells and showers follow into the west and southwest. However, cloud and outbreaks of rain will linger in parts of the north and east, and some sleet may fall over higher parts of Ulster in the evening."

Late Late Show viewers not happy

Late Late Show viewers were less than impressed with RTE's decision to wheel out Architect Dermot Bannon for another appearance.

Dermot joined host Ryan Tubridy to discuss his love life, and even revealed that he was once a contestant on the legendary Blind Date show as a young man.

Not everyone was happy to see the Room to Improve presenter on the programme, with many commenting on the frequency of his appearances on the Late Late.

One person joked: "Ryan Tubridy at 8:30pm going down to release Dermot Bannon from the RTE Basement."

A second said: "We are only 2 months into 2022 and Dermot Bannon already has TWO #latelate appearances.. #latelateshow."
