Chelsea duo Reece James and Mason Mount are set to miss the rest of the Premier League season with injury troubles, says interim manager Frank Lampard. The pair have struggled with setbacks throughout the campaign so far, but it seems unlikely that they'll feature again.
It comes as a huge blow to the Blues, who are looking to end the season on a strong note after a very difficult few months at the club when it comes to results. The side are looking to return to winning ways against Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, but the double blow was also met with another as Kai Havertz is also set to miss the game.
Lampard told the media: "Reece James unavailable. Probably for the season. Mason Mount probably the same. Potential for the last game but probably not. Kai won't be available tomorrow."

James has consistently battled against injury troubles over the past few seasons, which has left the Blues scrambling for answers when he is missing due to his importance in the team. The side went out and signed a backup that will look to challenge the England international back in January, landing Malo Gusto from Lyon.
The promising right-back was sent back on loan to the French club as part of the deal though, meaning he won't be introduced into the team until next season. One of Cesar Azpilicueta or Ruben Loftus-Cheek has deputised in James' absence and it appears as though it may be the same case for the rest of this campaign as the Cobham academy graduate suffers another hamstring injury.
Fellow England international Mount has suffered with plenty of injuries this season too, with an ongoing pelvic problem plaguing his season. Another injury means that the club's two-time player of the season, who has failed to get his season underway at any point, is set to miss out on another appearance while speculation mounts over his future.
The injury concerns continue to be something of an issue for the west London outfit that has had an impact on their campaign. If they are to seriously challenge again next year, it may be something that has to be addressed through depth or behind the scenes changes.
