Gareth Southgate will continue as England manager as planned following the Three Lions' World Cup quarter-final finish, the FA have confirmed.
There had been uncertainty over the past week regarding Southgate's future in charge as focus now turns to the European Championships in 2024. Southgate was unable to steer the nation past the quarter-final stage in Qatar due to Olivier Giroud's winner against finalists France last weekend.
However, today, a statement from FA CEO Mark Bullingham confirmed that the 52-year-old will continue as manager of the England national team. The statement read: "We are delighted to confirm that Gareth Southgate is continuing as England manager, and will lead our Euro 2024 campaign.

"Gareth and Steve Holland have always had our full support, and our planning for the Euros starts now."
The decision ends speculation over his future after the former Middlesbrough manager hinted that his time may be over following the defeat to France. Speaking after the heartbreaking defeat, he said: "After every tournament we have sat and reviewed and reflected and that needs a bit of time to make sure everyone makes the right decisions.”
Whilst the news may not be the sort many supporters want, the decision will be a major boost for the FA, who were desperate for him to stay in charge after leading the nation to a World Cup quarter-final and semi-final, as well as a European Championship final.
