The Houston Texans brought one of their 2022 NFL draft picks into the fold with the singing of Texas A&M guard Kenyon Green Monday.
Adding Green gives the Texans a first-round talent along the interior offensive line. The Atascocita High School alumnus also has the potential to kick outside at tackle if need be.
According to Aaron Wilson from the Pro Football Network, Green signed a standard four-year contract with the Texans. However, as a first-round selection, Green’s contract has a fifth-year option that the club can pick up heading into his final year of the four-year deal.
Green’s $15.953 million contract is fully guaranteed and includes an $8.782 million signing bonus. Green’s base salaries for the next four years are $705,000, $930,155, $1.655 million, and $2.88 million.
The next year and the year thereafter are where it gets lucrative for Green. In 2023, Green will earn a $500,000 training camp roster bonus, and can earn another one in 2024.
Green has played his entire football career in the Houston area and wants to keep the success going with his hometown NFL team.
“I played here multiple times in high school for playoff games, and I got a good record in here, so, you know, I want to keep that going,” Green told reporters on April 29. “Whatever we have to do to do that, I’m ready to do that.”
