Breaking down the final Saints-Panthers injury report for Week 14

There’s a lot to cover on the Week 14 New Orleans Saints injury report, so let’s get right to it. While the Saints pre-emptively ruled out just two players for Sunday’s game with the Carolina Panthers, nine others are questionable to play, and at least three will be playing through injuries.

Carolina isn’t in much better shape. They’ve ruled out two of their own and listed five others as questionable to play. All told, 28 different players were listed on the final injury report this week.

Here’s a look at who’s in, who’s out, and who has a chance to play:

Who's in?

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports
  • Center Erik McCoy (shoulder) was limited on Wednesday but practiced fully on Thursday and Friday, and he’s expected to start on Sunday.
  • Left tackle Andrus Peat (shoulder) was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but practiced fully Friday, and is expected to start on Sunday.
  • Right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) was also limited on Wednesday but practiced fully on Thursday and Friday, and he is expected to start on Sunday.
  • Five Panthers players were listed on the injury report this week and are expected to play: cornerback Troy Hill (ankle), right tackle Taylor Moton (knee), safety Vonn Bell (shoulder), safety Jeremy Chinn (quadricep), and cornerback Jaycee Horn.

Who's out?

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports
  • Rookie defensive end Isaiah Foskey (quadricep) was unable to practice this week and has been ruled out. He missed two weeks and played against the Detroit Lions but suffered a setback.
  • Rookie running back Kendre Miller (ankle) was also unable to practice this week and will not play. He will have missed six of his first 13 games with ankle and hamstring injuries.
  • Two Panthers players were ruled out due to injuries: defensive end DeShawn Williams (knee) and tight end Hayden Hurst (concussion).

Who has a chance to play?

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports
  • Quarterback Taysom Hill (foot/left hand) did not practice this week and is questionable to play on Sunday.
  • Defensive end Cameron Jordan (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday but was upgraded to limited reps on Thursday and Friday. He’s questionable to play on Sunday.
  • Wide receiver Chris Olave (thigh) did not practice this week and is questionable to play on Sunday.
  • Quarterback Derek Carr (concussion/rib/shoulder) was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but practiced fully Friday. He cleared concussion protocol but is questionable to play on Sunday.
  • Tight end Juwan Johnson (quadricep) was limited throughout the week and is questionable to play on Sunday. He missed four games with a calf injury earlier this year.
  • Linebacker Pete Werner (shoulder/oblique) was limited throughout the week and is questionable to play on Sunday.
  • Kicker Blake Grupe (right groin) was a full participant at practice this week and is questionable to play Sunday. His backup Austin Seibert was released from the practice squad which suggests he’ll play.
  • Wide receiver Chris Olave (illness) missed practice on Thursday and Friday, and he’s questionable to play on Sunday. He came down with the flu but is expected to play despite his official designation.
  • Rookie left guard Nick Saldiveri (shoulder) wasn’t listed on the injury report until Friday, as a full participant. He’s questionable to play but has been a healthy scratch most of the year.
