Boy, 9, killed and girl seriously injured after 4x4 overturns at adventure course

A nine-year-old boy has been killed and a girl is seriously injured after a 4x4 off-road vehicle overturned at an adventure course.

The boy was travelling in the vehicle when it flipped over at Coney Green Farm, in Stourport, Worcestershire.

Two adults and two other children were also in the car when the horror smash took place at around 4.45pm on Saturday.

The nine-year-old died at the scene shortly after paramedics arrived, BirminghamLive reports.

A girl who was hurt in the crash was rushed to hospital, although her injuries are not life-threatening.

Coney Green Farm is listed as running a 4x4 off road vehicle site on the land near Bewdley. The quirky farm is also famous for visitors going to see its derelict vintage cars around the spot.

The cause of the accident, which involved the one car, is still unclear. West Mercia Police officers are carrying out investigations at the well-known farm off the B4194 Ribbesford Road, which runs between Ribbesford, near Bewdley, and Areley, near the M5.

Two paramedics along with two critical care paramedics from the Midlands Air Ambulance charity, HART paramedics and medics from the Air Ambulance worked on treating all the occupants of the car.

Two adults and another boy were not believed to be injured but underwent further checks at hospital.

Neighbours called it a "terrible situation" which saw an air ambulance land in a nearby field.

A worker at Midwest Moto, a motorbike dealership nearby, said: "I saw there were a lot of emergency services present.

"I know there is a lot of off-roading that goes on at the field. It is a terrible situation."

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Around 4:45pm on Saturday we were called to reports of a single vehicle collision at Coney Green Farm, Stourport-on-Severn.

"Police attended alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance service. An off-road vehicle had overturned and one passenger, a 9-year-old boy, died at the scene. The driver and three other passengers received non-life threatening injuries.

"Officers would like to hear from anyone with any relevant information. If you saw the incident or have information that could help please report this through our channels."
