Breaking: Arsenal Women complete signing of Canadian goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo

Arsenal Women have completed the signing of Canadian goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo on a permanent transfer.

The 29-year-old joins following a four-year spell with Swedish side Vittsjo GIK in the Damallsvenskan, where she made 70 appearances. D’Angelo will wear the No.14 shirt for the Gunners.

Before moving to Europe, she spent a number of years in the NWSL with Western New York Flash and North Carolina Courage. The shot-stopper also has 24 caps for the Canadian national team, after joining the senior set-up back in 2016.

“It feels amazing – it’s an honour to be here and I’m so excited to get started with the team,” D’Angelo told arsenalfc.com. “This is an incredibly exciting time for Arsenal Women and I want to help the team to win trophies and achieve success for our wonderful supporters.”

Jonas Eidevall added: “We’re delighted to have signed Sabrina. She is a top goalkeeper with plenty of experience in both Europe and North America and we’re confident that she will be a strong addition to our squad.”

The goalkeeper becomes Arsenal's third signing of the January transfer window, as she joins Dutch winger Victoria Pelova and Denmark international Kathrine Kuhl through the door. After losing Jordan Nobbs to Aston Villa, Arsenal have also recalled Gio Queiroz from her loan spell at Everton.

Arsenal's Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley also spoke on the deal, saying: “Sabrina is an excellent goalkeeper and a great character so we are very pleased to have brought her to Arsenal.

"She has a proven track record with experience at both club and international level and we look forward to seeing her in action soon.”
