Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool rearranged ahead of Carabao Cup final

Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool has been rearranged after Jurgen Klopp's side reached the final of the Carabao Cup.

The two teams were set to play this month, but after the Reds reached the final of the Carabao Cup it was postponed and will now be played on Wednesday, March 16 at 20:15.

Liverpool beat Arsenal in the semi-finals of the tournament, leaving Mikel Arteta's side with a weekend off.

The new fixture will be shown live on Sky Sports as the Gunners battle to win a place in the top four of the Premier League this season.

It is not the first time that a match between the two sides has had to be rearranged this season.

The first leg of the duo's Carabao Cup semi-final was postponed after Liverpool reported a number of positive COVID-19 tests, which it was later reported were false positives.

After a 0-0 draw at Anfield in which Granit Xhaka was shown a red card, Diogo Jota inspired the Reds to a 2-0 win at the Emirates, booking their place at Wembley on February 27

.

They will now face Chelsea to decide the first piece of domestic silverware of the season.

Arsenal currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League as they hunt down an unlikely spot in next season's Champions League.

Meanwhile Liverpool have not given up on closing the gap on Manchester City with nine points currently separating the two sides with Klopp boasting a game in hand on the reigning Champions as well.
