Arsenal are in ongoing talks with Spezia to sign Jakub Kiwior, football.london understands. Mikel Arteta had been keen to add a left footed centre-back to his squad to provide competition for Gabriel after the departure of Pablo Mari in the summer, and the Polish international is the man Edu has honed in on.
A fee for the 22-year-old is likely to be over £17million as Arsenal look to bolster their chances of a first Premier League title since 2004. Arteta has previously shown a willingness to sign centre backs who have played wide in a back three with deals for Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kiwior fits this bill.
Kiwior has already earned nine caps for Poland and established himself as a regular in the Spezia side where he has earned rave reviews. Prior to that he spent time with MSK Zilina in Slovakia, and enjoyed some time in his youth career with Belgian giants Anderlecht.
