Arsenal announce major club change as Stan Kroenke and Josh Kroenke handed new roles

Arsenal have announced that Stan Kroenke and Josh Kroenke have been appointed as Co-Chairs whilst Tim Lewis becomes Executive Vice-Chair. The announcement comes as a major change to the club's leadership structure as it continues its evolution since Kroenke Sports & Entertainment assumed 100% ownership of Arsenal in 2018.

Josh Kroenke was appointed as a non-executive director at the club back in 2013, whilst Lewis left his role at law firm Clifford Chance last year to focus more on the Gunners. Lewis advised Stan Kroenke through the 2007-2018 period when KSE invested more and more money into Arsenal before buying it outright.

A statement from Stan Kroenke read: "This is a simple evolution as part of us all driving Arsenal forward and further reaffirms our family’s long-standing commitment to this great club. Stability in football has never been more important as we move past the pandemic, and we believe this is the perfect time to formalise these roles.

“Our objectives and ambition will never waver - to field teams that compete for trophies at the highest level and lead our club in a way that inspires our passionate supporters around the world. Supported by our Director, Phil Harris, and together with our Executive Team and all our wonderful people, we have an incredible opportunity to build on the values and traditions of Arsenal Football Club."

The announcement aims to help continue Arsenal's success and progress on and off the pitch whilst offering clarity to the club's structure that reflect each of their roles and responsibilities within the club. Lewis is an Arsenal fan and has already been working with the north London side for a considerable amount of time with his influence contributing heavily to where the executive structure finds itself today.

Edu Gaspar was confirmed as the Gunners' sporting director earlier this season as he continues his work to help improve the playing squad. The long-term vision at the Emirates Stadium continues to develop as Mikel Arteta and his squad aim to bring the club success in the form of trophies, with this season proving to be a great chance to end their 19-year Premier League title drought.
