David and Victoria Beckham's London mansion burgled while they were at home

The £40million West London mansion of David and Victoria Beckham has been broken into and “thousands of pounds” worth of items were stolen, it has been reported. The burglary at the couple’s Kensington home is believed to have occurred late in the evening while the Beckhams were at home with their 10-year-old daughter on Monday, February 28.

According to The Sun newspaper, the break-in was not discovered until son Cruz Beckham, 17, returned home from a night out and found a broken window and a spare bedroom which had been “ransacked”. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that officers had responded to reports of a burglary at a residential address in the W11 area of Kensington at around midnight on March 1.

They added that a number of items were reported stolen. No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are continuing.

According to The Sun Cruz, 17, returned home from a night out with friends to find the window of a spare bedroom had been broken and the room had been ransacked.

The site says David Beckham called 999 to alert police before he and Cruz searched the house, while Victoria remained with Harper, 10.

No-one was found in the property but it is reported that designer gear and electrical goods had been stolen. The Sun says a gang targeted two other nearby homes on the same night.

A source told The Sun: “Sadly the Beckhams were the victims of some fairly professional thieves who have been operating in the area.

“Fortunately the criminals only made it as far as one bedroom before they ran off.”

They said nothing of sentimental value was taken. Another source said: “[CCTV] footage is said to show the intruder clambering over the gate at the front of the house. He then shimmied up the house and broke in through the window of a spare bedroom."

The source added: “The family were clearly shaken up by what happened. It was very upsetting for them to find out the burglar had broken into the house while they were at home.”
