Brazil media officer draws gasps for reaction after press conference disrupted by cat

An inquisitive cat saw one of its nine lives pass before it on Wednesday after gate-crashing Brazil's World Cup press conference on Thursday.

The samba stars are preparing to face Croatia in their quarter-final clash on Friday and sent out Real Madrid ace Vinicius Jnr. to face the amassed media in the run-up to the match. His press conference appearance was interrupted by the arrival of a furry feline, which showed expert balance to jump onto the media table for a better look at the Champions League winner.

But as reported by the Mirror, after initially receiving a welcome stroke from Brazil's press officer, things took a sinister turn when he removed the cat by pulling it up by its back hair and chucking it away like Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson would start another attack.

The unexpected moment drew a gasps from reporters and eventually led to Vinicius Jnr. nervously laughing before looking at the press officer, who shrugged his shoulders before requesting the 'next question'.

Poor cattitude cannot be levelled at the England team, however, who have become friendly with another feline that appears to be resident at the team's Qatari hotel in Al Wakrah.

Naming the cat 'Dave', the Three Lions are hoping that it will bring them further good luck in the tournament, as they prepare to face France on Saturday.

On Wednesday, England vet Kyle Walker said: "Dave is fine. He had a little scrap with another cat the other night. I think they are fighting over territory and the food. But he's doing well. Hopefully, I can stick to my promise that he will come home with us if we were to win the World Cup."

Liverpool stars Alisson and Fabinho will be hoping that the surprise guest at their own press conference is carrying the luck they need to go all the way however, as they look to pounce on the Croats on route to getting their claws on the trophy.
