Melbourne star Angus Brayshaw has emphatically put contract speculation to bed, signing a monster six-year extension with the AFL premiers.
While clubs appeared to have been circling the 26-year-old, Brayshaw is now set to spend the prime of his career at the club he was drafted by after penning a deal until the end of 2028.
Fremantle had loomed as one potential suitor in a bid to reunite him with brother Andrew, while Essendon had also been linked to the versatile talent.
Brayshaw's retention locks in the club's leading trio from their 2021 premiership team, with Christian Petracca (end of 2029) and Clayton Oliver (end of 2030) also signed for the long-term
Melbourne's priority now becomes re-signing out-of-contract ruckman Luke Jackson, who's been heavily linked with a move to Fremantle and his home state on Western Australia.
But Brayshaw won't be going anywhere, keen to make up for lost time at the start of his career where he struggled through some uncompetitive seasons with the Demons.
"We went through some really hard times where we weren't winning many games and now to be at this point ... we're building a culture of sustained success," he said.
"You've seen Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, all these guys sign for long-term deals as a real show of commitment.
"I believe in the vision and want to be a part of it, so for the next six years, I guess I'll just be looking forward to making up for lost time at the start of my career where we were losing and hopefully we can just keep winning games and go from there."
The 137-game Demon is in sparkling form, averaging a career-high 25 disposals a game this season playing off half-back.
Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb said the signing was a brilliant result for all involved.
"His talent is obvious to all and his willingness to put the team first and play whatever role we need him to is a testament to his character," he said.
"This signing is another great endorsement for the culture we have created and we know Angus will continue to drive standards within the group.
"The great thing is Angus still has enormous growth in his game and we are excited about what he will produce in the future.
"This deal means another key pillar of our playing group will play out his career with us which is an important part of our strategy going forward."
