Brave West Lothian man scales new heights for prostate cancer charity

Well done to brave Whitburn man Jim McGregor who reached new heights raising money for charity with a daring zip slide.

Jim was among 22 freemasons from across Scotland who raised nearly £50,000 for Prostate Scotland.

He took part in the event in Killiecrankie, which was organised after an earlier charity zip slide was postponed due to the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The funds will go towards the Grand Lodge of Scotland’s Make It A Million campaign which aims to raise at least £1 million for Prostate Scotland.

Jim said: “It was a real honour to be involved in such a successful fund-raising event, especially since the money is going to Prostate Scotland, which is such an important cause.

“I am just one of thousands of freemasons who have contributed to the grand total of £1.1 million.

“A cheque for that amount will be handed over to the charity in Edinburgh later in November on what will be a historic occasion.

“It is the first time the Grand Lodge of Scotland will have presented a single recipient with over £1 million and I’m delighted to have played a small part.”
