A rescued otter who was found to be scared of water has finally overcome her fears in an adorable clip captured at a Scottish animal sanctuary.
Little Luna was rescued in January by a local family on the island of Whalsay after she tried to join them for a walk.
Clearly distressed, they eventually took her to the Hillswick Wildlife Sanctuary on Shetland.
Volunteers at the centre have spent months trying to coax her to get into a pool in her enclosure.
The team couldn't believe how reluctant the little orphan cub was to get wet, despite being a semi-aquatic mammal, and were delighted when they found her finally playing in the pool by herself.
They shared the heart-warming clip on their official Facebook page, writing: "A major breakthrough at the sanctuary – Luna the otter cub who arrived from Whalsay in January has finally caught fish in the pool."
In the video, you can see the various methods they tried to help her get used to the water with everything from putting her fish onto a balancing manhole cover to sticks and a bowl being used to try and guide her in.
But little Luna simply refused to get into the pool and just didn't seem to like getting wet.
Eventually, they explained that they used a net with the fish placed in the middle, which was lowered each time to make her have to get into the pool to get them.
Incredibly, after a few quick dips to steal one of the fish, they eventually found her in the water happily playing away with a water spout after feeding time.
They added: "We could not believe how reluctant she was to get wet, even though she is an otter and otters live half of their lives in the water.
“So it was with great joy that we went out to feed her and found her already playing in the pool.
"We pulled out the material, threw in fish and hey presto, she dived in, grabbed one and ran off to her hut to wolf it down. Phew!
“It never ceases to amaze us how each otter has their own unique character – you never know what to expect.”
The adorable clip has now had over 3 million views on Facebook.
Fans of the page rushed to thank the team for their dedication and to congratulate the brave little otter.
One posted: "Absolutely brilliant what a clever girl. Just takes a little time."
While another added: "You guys really did an awesome job building her confidence up."
Another quipped: "'The Otter who’s scared of Water' that’d be a cute children’s book about conquering your fears."
