Brandin Podziemski discusses Warriors’ “demoralizing” mistakes

Brandin Podziemski can’t put his finger on why the Golden State Warriors are struggling to close out games. The rookie wing believes that each game, there’s a new issue that creeps into the team’s performance, which can become demoralizing. In the Warriors’ latest loss, which came against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday (Dec. 8,) those issues were turnovers (28) and fouls (28.)

During his post-game press conference, Podziemski aired out his frustrations. He noted how it’s hard to work on something when the issues keep changing into something new. Still, Podziemski’s comments made it clear that he believes the Warriors aren’t far from turning things around.

“I think it’s just super demoralizing because it’s always something different each game, like ‘d*** if this hadn’t had happened, we wouldn’t have lost,'” Podziemski said. “We’re in every single game. But it’s just hard to put your finger on what the one thing is we need to work on because every game is something different…It’s super frustrating for all of us because it feels like something different every game, where one way or another, we could have won.”

With just over a quarter of the season gone, there is still plenty of time for the Warriors to correct their current course and prove they’re genuine contenders. However, they need to tighten up their play and limit their mistakes, which ironically has been a calling card of this team throughout their dynasty.

Nevertheless, Podziemski’s comments were honest, and were likely a glimpse at how the overall Warriors locker room is currently feeling. Hopefully, that downhearted feeling is what spurs Steve Kerr and the team on and helps them get back to winning ways in the near future.
