Brand new £50,000 Ayrshire playpark opens — complete with trampoline pits

A new £50,000 playpark has opened in York Street, Ayr.

And local children wasted no time in getting struck into the town’s new play attraction.

The York Street swing park has been a long time in the planning.

But it’s all been worth the wait and the Newton Tenants Association are delighted with the new amenity.

Helen Russell, from the Newton Tenants Association, said: “We must say a big thank you to councillor Ian Davis and to David Loudon who helped us get £41,000 from South Ayrshire Council.

“Also, a big thank you to the National Lottery for the £9,600 they gave the Newton Tenants Association towards the funding, which brought it up to £50,600.”

The new park boasts swings, slides, climbing frame, trampoline pits and more.

Helen has also expressed her gratitude to South Ayrshire Council workers and contractors who worked hard in completing the swing park, and to Andrew Stevenson for his guidance and assistance.

The association also wishes to thank Shaunagh Jones and Gordon Morton, from the National Lottery, for their help and assistance too.

Helen added: “The kids love their new park!”
