'Brahmastra' director Ayan Mukerji admits he 'felt bad' about what happened at Ujjain temple; says 'Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were keen to come with me'

Bollywood couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt found themselves in the middle of controversy after they were stopped from offering prayers at the Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain due to a protest by Bajrang Dal members.

According to the police, the couple was supposed to join director Ayan Mukerji to offer prayers at the temple on Tuesday, ahead of the release of their film 'Brahmastra'. On being informed about the celebrity couple's arrival, the temple committee along with the district administration and the police had reportedly made elaborate security arrangements.

However, the members of the political party opposed the actors' entry based on an alleged remark made by Ranbir in 2011 over the beef issue. A video of the incident surfaced on social media sparking off a debate online.
