Sean Welsh said his family was kept in the dark in the hours after his brother Bradley was gunned down on his doorstep.
As Bradley Welsh lay dead outside his Edinburgh home, Sean said it took several hours for police to inform him what had happened.
Bradley was shot shortly after 8pm on April 17, 2019, and paramedics pronounced him dead around 30 minutes later.
Sean said: “A Champions League match had just started and I was at home watching that.
“My wife got a call from Brad’s wife. She was screaming that something had happened.
“I jumped in the car and went right to the scene. We were kept behind a cordon and nobody would tell us what was going on. There were paramedics there and armed police everywhere.
“The police just kept telling us to wait and someone would come to see us.
“They kept putting the cordon back to keep people away, but let us stay at the initial cordon.
“Eventually police took Brad’s wife and daughter out of their house.
“They couldn’t take them out the front door because Brad was still there.
“They had to be taken out the back garden and through another garden.
“We only found out Brad had been shot because police officers at the scene that night texted their pals. Those people texted other pals and it eventually got back to us.
“It was about 1am when we were told he was dead. It was devastating.”
