Bradley Barcola issues verdict on Liverpool transfer amid Arsenal 'bid'

Bradley Barcola is ‘thrilled’ at the prospect of a move to Liverpool, despite transfer links with Arsenal.

That is according to reports in France as Le10 Sport claim the Paris Saint-Germain forward is ‘excited’ by the project at Liverpool, under new head coach Andoni Iraola, and the chance to play in the Premier League.

Barcola has emerged as a reported target for Liverpool and Arsenal this summer, with both teams bidding to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.

In a boost for the Premier League duo, L'Equipe have previously claimed that PSG are open to a sale this summer as Barcola has two years left on his contract and talks over an extension are not progressing well.

However, while it appeared that Arsenal were leading the race for the 23-year-old amid suggestions of a bid being prepared, they face strong competition from Liverpool, with the forward seemingly preferring a switch to Merseyside.

Barcola is one of several names regarded as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who officially departs Liverpool on June 30 after announcing his decision to leave towards the end of the season.

The Reds have already signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna for a fee believed to be in the region of £34.5million, though that deal is not expected to have any impact on signing at least one more forward.

In addition to Barcola, Liverpool hold a strong interest in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

Despite being knocked back in their first attempt to sign the Ivory Coast international with an opening offer of €100m (£86.8m) rejected by Leipzig, reports claim they’re likely to go back in with an improved bid, though the asking price is believed to be £112m.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are interested in signing Morgan Rogers and there is a confidence that he would be keen to join if a fee can be agreed with Aston Villa.
