Brad Pitt gave an odd response when questioned about his decision to wear a skirt to a Berlin screening of his new movie Bullet Train.
The Oscar-winning actor, 58, turned heads when he rocked up to the red carpet in the German capital sporting a brown knee-length number last month.
At the time, he claimed he went for the ensemble for the “breeze” which seemed logical given it was summer.
Now however he has suggested a darker motive.
Speaking to Variety at the Los Angeles premiere for the same flick at the Regency Village Theatre on Monday, he said: “I don’t know! We’re all going to die, so let’s mess it up.”
On this occasion, the dad-of-six opted for a baggy green two-piece over a teal-coloured shirt.
He accessorised the quirky look with yellow trainers featuring red stripes and white shoe laces.
Bullet Train will be released in UK cinemas from August 3.
The action-comedy which tells the story of “five assassins aboard a fast moving bullet train,” who “find out their missions have something in common.”
Pitt plays the character Ladybug, a seasoned but unlucky American assassin.
Directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde) and with a screenplay by Zak Olkewicz, it also stars Sandra Bullock, Joey King, Karen Fukuhara, Logan Lerman, Brian Tyree Henry and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Despite being one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars, Pitt recently said that he thinks his career is almost at an end.
“I consider myself on my last leg,” Pitt told GQ, “this last semester or trimester. What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”
He still has lots in pipeline, however.
After Bullet Train, he will next be seen in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon which is set in old Hollywood and sees the transition from silent film to talkies.
He will also reunite with long-time Hollywood friend George Clooney for an untitled project, directed and written by Jon Watts.
Meanwhile, his Plan B production company continues to go from strength-to-strength, with latest projects including a Marilyn Monroe biopic titled Blonde and Women Talking, a movie about a group of Mennonite women uniting against the men who sexually assault them.
