Brad Pitt awkwardly snubs Martin Brundle during US Grand Prix grid walk

Martin Brundle was blanked by another famous star on his F1 grid walk - this time by Hollywood icon Brad Pitt. The former F1 driver took a trip up and down the track prior to the race to grab a word with any public figures he came across prior to the United States Grand Prix on Sunday night.

This was a quieter grid walk than usual for an American GP, but the 63-year-old did spot music megastar Ed Sheeran, who shared a few words. Brundle also had a chat with Green Day drummer Tre Cool before spotting Pitt making the famous walk. However, this conversation did not go according to plan for Brundle, as Pitt did his best to avoid stopping for a chat with Sky Sports F1.

“Brad, Martin Brundle, Sky F1, how are you doing? Can you tell us a little bit about this movie?” the Brit asked as he chased the two-time Academy Award winner. Pitt, keen to keep it moving, responded: “No not yet. It’s top secret”.

Brundle followed up by saying: “Have you enjoyed this weekend? I’ve seen you so much this weekend.” Pitt then shut down any further interaction by saying: “Thank you man.”

The both brief and awkward exchange was followed by Brundle claiming a hand was placed on the back of his shoulder. “Somebody was grabbing hold of my shoulder,” Brundle told the TV audience with a grin. "Obviously they’re known as pit stops if they don’t want you talking to Brad Pitt.”

This comes a year after Brundle’s failed interview with Serena Williams and an awkward chat with Megan Thee Stallion when the grid walk returned at the US GP for the first time in two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The motorsport commentator tried to interview the tennis legend which was unsuccessful, and after asking the rapper a question, albeit a strange one, her entourage turned him away.

Following the race, Brundle addressed the issue on Twitter and penned: "I have felt under pressure on the grid before but by people called Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Mansell, Piquet and so on.

"Bodyguards visiting the grid for the first time don’t bother me, everyone’s got a job to do, but they could maybe learn some manners and respect on our patch."

Fans at the Circuit of the Americas witnessed Max Verstappen overtake Lewis Hamilton just a few laps from the end to win the US GP for the second consecutive time last night.

The 25-year-old's victory equalled Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel’s record of 13 wins in a single season. The Dutchman will not have to wait long to have a shot at setting a new record with the Mexican GP set to take place this Sunday.
