Boyzone stars Ronan Keating and Keith Duffy have penned heartfelt tributes to their “angel” pal Stephen Gately 13 years after his death.
Stephen tragically died early on the morning of October 10, 2009 while on holiday in Majorca. His body was discovered by his husband Andrew Cowles.
On the anniversary of his death, Ronan and Keith paid tribute to the late singer.
Ronan wrote: “13 years and doesn’t get any easier because I know how much living ya had in ya. Miss ya dude. A heavy heart.”
Ronan shared a string of photos of himself and Stephen, from enjoying nights out to pictures on stage together.
He also shared photos while meeting Prince Charles and some of Boyzone posing together.
Meanwhile, Keith took to Instagram to share an old photo with Stephen while on stage.
He wrote: "13 years my guardian Angel!
"I’ll never meet another living soul who loved me as unconditionally and honestly as my buddy Steo!
"Miss you every single day I had your brothers family with me for a Special moment last night. Keep an eye on me brother."
On Sunday, Keith met with Stephen's younger brother Tony and his children Josh, 19, and Harry Stephen, 10, at a Boyzlife gig in Edinburgh.
Captioning a photo of them posing together, Keith wrote: “Always Good to get The Gately Boys down to the show in Edinburgh! #steo #family @officialboyzlife #reminisce.”
A post mortem revealed at the time that Stephen died due to a pulmonary oedema (fluid in the lungs) as a result of an undiagnosed heart defect.
The band flew to Majorca the day after his death on October 11 and issued a joint statement in which they described him as a "beautiful person."
