Boy’s life saved at London hospital as UK-first procedure reverses heart failure

A boy’s life has been saved after he became the first child in the UK to have an angioplasty for heart failure – a procedure typically reserved for adults with cardiac conditions.

Elliot Atkins’s parents were told that, without action, he was unlikely to survive following his diagnosis with heart failure and a “one in a million” condition called middle aortic syndrome.
